The Somerset and Dorset Railway Heritage Trust at Midsomer Norton South Station held an open weekend this week, complete with a steaming locomotive which you could travel on, over the short distance of restored track. It is a short heritage railway run by volunteers in the foothills of the Mendips in North Somerset. Trains are run on a short, but expanding line, usually with diesel engines. There is a gift and bookshop, small museum, buffet coach, wartime pillbox museum and signalbox. For further details visit the Somerset and Dorset Trust website.
