Fortepiano

My DH was singing in a lunchtime concert today at the Holburne Museum in Bath featuring one of their prize possessions – a Schantz Fortepiano dating from about 1795. The instrument is one of only four of its kind known to be still in existence. The concert, entitled “A Visit from St Valentine”, was given by a small group of singers accompanied on the fortepiano with songs based on the theme of “Love”. The Museum runs a series of lunchtime concerts for which it charges a small fee in aid of museum funds. The museum is a registered charity and all funds they raise help to retain the free entry for all visitors.
