Birthday in Honfleur

Today is my birthday and I’m currently taking a short break in Honfleur, in the Normandy region of France. It’s somewhere I’ve always driven by on my way to and from the ports but never visited until now. I have to say that it doesn’t disappoint. It has everything a girl could wish for – fantastic architecture, Normandy cider, quaint streets to explore, lots of boats to look at and plenty of photo opportunities. Here are just a few photos taken during my wanders around the town and surrounding area today.

Our bed and breakfast is a short walk (uphill!) from the town centre but has plenty of character and comfortable rooms and a wonderful breakfast. After eating all we could we headed off into the town centre and towards the “vieux bassin” of the port.

A quick walk to the other end provides an equally picturesque view:

We explored some of the narrow streets about the port:

before making the most of the weather and heading out along the river to the beach:

We then made our way up the hillside to take in the views over the town:

and then made our way back to the bed and breakfast to eat the remains of breakfast for our lunch!

The weather remained bright if a little cooler this afternoon but thankfully no rain. One more day left so more photos to post soon.

  1. hope weather is staying good for you. We’ve got rain, rain and more rain in the Rhône-Alpes at the moment!

  2. Oh, this brings back so many wonderful memories of a trip I took to this wonderful region, including this charming town, so long ago. Beautiful photos and great post. Thanks so much for sharing. And happy birthday!! 🎉

    • It’s a lovely place with lots to see and do – it’s more than just the actual harbour which is the bit everyone gets to see!

It's always great to get comments - why not leave one of your own here...
