Today is my birthday and I’m currently taking a short break in Honfleur, in the Normandy region of France. It’s somewhere I’ve always driven by on my way to and from the ports but never visited until now. I have to say that it doesn’t disappoint. It has everything a girl could wish for – fantastic architecture, Normandy cider, quaint streets to explore, lots of boats to look at and plenty of photo opportunities. Here are just a few photos taken during my wanders around the town and surrounding area today.
Our bed and breakfast is a short walk (uphill!) from the town centre but has plenty of character and comfortable rooms and a wonderful breakfast. After eating all we could we headed off into the town centre and towards the “vieux bassin” of the port.
A quick walk to the other end provides an equally picturesque view:
We explored some of the narrow streets about the port:
before making the most of the weather and heading out along the river to the beach:
We then made our way up the hillside to take in the views over the town:
and then made our way back to the bed and breakfast to eat the remains of breakfast for our lunch!
The weather remained bright if a little cooler this afternoon but thankfully no rain. One more day left so more photos to post soon.
