I’ve been invited to take part in the “Five Photos, Five Stories” challenge by Claire of Claire93. The challenge is quite simply to “post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”.
Here’s my fifth and final photo:
This is Monty. He’s featured here in his favourite pose, lying down in a sunny spot watching the world go by, making sure that he’s not missing out on anything interesting that might just happen! He arrived eight years ago from an RSPCA shelter where he had been picked up as stray, wandering around the streets of the City of Bristol (in the West Country of England). They thought he was fully grown then but it was all a con! Due to his size, the people running the RSPCA centre assumed he was fully grown – he had all his proper teeth and was already big! However after we adopted him, he grew some more, and then some, and now weighs in at a hefty 43 kilos. If he wants to stop suddenly, you’re going to stop with him likewise if he wants to go, you’re going to go too!
He’s quite a character. He knows if you’re coming downstairs just to make a morning cup of tea as he won’t bother to get out of bed. But as soon as he hears the mugs chink he will start clamouring for his morning walk by “singing” loudly, reminding you that you’ve had your drink and it’s now his turn. He loves his soft toys and his current plaything is a squeaky pheasant and despite his size and strength he will treat them very gently. Being a Labrador he also really loves water and will use any excuse for a paddle in the local stream, even in the depths of winter. He’ll then come out and delight in having a really good shake – right next to you! Generally he’s a really gentle soul and good company. Despite the fact that he’s now supposed to be slowing down due to his age, he shows no signs of doing so, and still believes as he tries to climb onto your lap for a cuddle, that he’s a big puppy!
Today I’d like to invite Dan of RedStuffDan to continue with the challenge. Dan is a blogger I’ve followed almost since the start of my blogging life. He live in the Aquitaine region of France and loves photography and his own unique style of art. He also likes the odd tipple of “red stuff” – a man after my own heart. Of course there’s absolutely no obligation for him to join in with the challenge but I do so hope he will accept. Either way his blog is well worth a visit.
